ECO-TIPS

  1. Remember not to leave devices in stand-by mode. Turning off unused devices can reduce energy consumption up to 10 percent.

  2. Don’t overheat your flat! Average temperature in your room should be 20 – 21 Celsius degrees.

  3. Replace a car with a bike or choose municipal public transport.

  4. Have a shower instead of having a bath.

  5. Go shopping with your own bag. It’s much more convenient and better for the environment than plastic bags.

  6. Don’t be lazy! Throw your trash away to the right bins! It only takes you 2 minutes more and is the first step to save the world.

  7. Take your charger out off the socket when you are not using it. Believe it or not, charger wastes power even when it’s not charging anything. Pull it off to save money and environment!

  8. Replace the bulbs with energy-saving fluorescent lamps or LED lamps.

  9. Reduce thermal energy by lowering the temperature for 2-3 degrees per night. This will help to protect our world and make our sleep better.

  10. Save water resources by changing the bath tub to the shower. We will decrease our comfort, but it will protect the environment.

  11. Don’t print all e-mails and unnecessary documents.

  12. Use the air conditioner only when it’s really necessary. Remember that for cooling the air you must use 10 times more energy than for heating it.

We bought a printer to print colorful photos and leaflets produced during the project and a camera to document our activities.

Compost

The compost was made in a specially prepared container with a transparent wall. It was used to show the individual stages of bean vegetation. The compost soil was made from organic waste obtained from the school kitchen. These were peelings of potatoes, onion shells and other vegetables. There were also used dead plant remains - leaves of trees and blades of grass, and fine sand and gravel, which formed a drainage layer.
